As the year draws to a close it’s time to release title and author of our next title, and I’m very happy to announce we’re producing Andy Weir’s “The Martian” illustrated by Eason Zhang!
This book will most likely be next in line to those with Publishers Rights and we’re currently looking to pre-order on this title in April 2025. We have been working on this project for some time now after securing the rights earlier this year.
This one of my favourite modern sci-fi novels and started life as a serial on Weir’s personal blog in 2011 due to his fascination with space and science fiction. As popularity grew, Weir eventually self-published the novel until it was finally picked up by Crown Publishing in 2013.
Not the first time this book has had a limited-edition release, Subterranean Press published a run in 2015. It’s time for the Curious King edition.
Curious King Edition
Honoured to be working on this project, we are planning the classic Curious King treatment and will be letterpress printing all tiers and states. We have secured the illustrating services of Eason Zhang, who will be producing 10 colour images for this release including a wrap-around dustjacket.
We will produce the following tiers:
Lettered Edition – 26 copies
Deluxe Edition – 200 copies
Standard Edition – 500 copies
Each of these tiers will be signed by both the author and the artist, with an exclusive dustjacket for the Standard Edition.
We are also working with both Anne Covell and Zoe Gehring (Cave paper) on custom papers for some of the tiers and are excited to see how the prototypes come out.
If we do decide to do any of Andy Weir’s other novels, then we will attach Series Rights to this title, but currently have no immediate plans to take on his other work.
Andy Weir
Andy Weir is a modern master of science fiction, celebrated for his unique ability to blend rigorous scientific accuracy with compelling, character-driven storytelling. Best known for his debut novel, The Martian, Weir captured readers worldwide with the gripping tale of astronaut Mark Watney’s ingenuity and resilience. His meticulous research and accessible prose have set a new standard for hard science fiction, making his work a touchstone for fans of both the genre and realistic space exploration narratives.
With each subsequent work, Andy Weir has continued to explore themes of survival, innovation, and the human spirit. In Artemis, he shifted his focus from Mars to the Moon, crafting a high-stakes heist story set in a thriving lunar city. His most recent novel, Project Hail Mary, further solidifies his reputation, featuring an interstellar journey to save humanity. These stories not only entertain but also inspire curiosity and wonder about humanity’s potential in the cosmos, earning Weir a dedicated following among readers and scientists alike.
